Richard Nixon-era White House counsel John Dean commented on a possible speech to be given by former President Donald Trump after hes arraigned.

What Happened: Dean was asked by CNNs Jim Acosta if it was a good idea for Trump to give a speech at Mar-a-Lago post the arraignment.

Terrible Idea, said Dean adding, Hes so loose and foolish he may increase his jeopardy.

Good theater, it will not be a good defense, said Dean, a former attorney.

The Watergate-era whistleblower hoped that the judge in the Stormy Daniels case would televise the proceedings because the rule of law is the issue here.

Why It Matters: Dean was a Watergate whistleblower who plead guilty to obstruction of justice and was disbarred, reported The Guardian.

Its very hard to look at Watergate without looking through the lens of Trump where it didnt work, or hasnt yet. Its not over. If Trump gets through with zero accountability, then the system is deeply flawed and a lot of that is probably traceable to the Ford pardon, said Dean last year. Nixon was granted a full pardon by President Gerald Ford in 1974.

Trump is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in New York in the Daniels case which allegedly involved the payment of $130,000 in hush money to the porn star, according to a prior report. He was indicted last week.
