A body has been found in the search for a 14-year-old boy who went missing after swimming in the River Mersey.
Daniel Halliday was jumping waves with his elder brother and a group of friends when the current swept him downstream on 30 June, Merseyside Police said at the time.
He became separated from the group near the radar tower off Crosby Beach, Waterloo, the force said.
The search was stood down the next day.
Merseyside Police said a body was found by the coastguard off New Brighton on Monday night.
It added: “Although the body has not yet been formally identified, officers remain in contact with the family of Daniel Halliday, 14, who went missing at Crosby beach on Sunday 30 June.”

Daniel’s family issued a statement after he went missing, saying their “worst fear is that this tragic accident has taken our lovely boy from us”.
They added: “Daniel was jumping waves with his big brother who tried to save him but the current was too strong.
“Daniel is a loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, and grandson.
“The family are all devastated, and we hope that we will be allowed our privacy at this time. Thank you.”
