Police are hunting a man accused of spraying antisemitic graffiti on an MP’s office building.

Feryal Clark’s constituency office in Hertford Road, Enfield, north London, was vandalised just after 11pm on 21 November, the Metropolitan Police said.

A CCTV image of the suspect, with his hood up and wearing a blue face mask, was published by the force on Monday.

Labour MP Ms Clark, who has represented Enfield North since 2019 and is the shadow minister for crime reduction, published a picture of the graffiti, with the words crossed out, on X on 22 November.

The politician wrote at the time: “The cowards who sprayed graffiti on my office shutters, the police have the CCTV footage, and the paint will be removed today. Next time, just try emailing!”

The social media post appears to have since been deleted.

PC Louis Blackburne-Maze, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a racially aggravated crime.

“There is no place for hate in London and it’s important that everyone feels safe on our streets.

“We are very keen to speak to this man so if you know who he is or have any other information that could help, we encourage you to get in touch with police.”

Antisemitic crime in the UK has risen sharply amid the renewed conflict in Gaza, with more than 1,000 incidents logged by Jewish charity the Community Security Trust since the 7 October attack by Hamas on Israel.

Tens of thousands of people marched in London on 26 November in what organisers said was the capital’s biggest gathering against antisemitism since 1936.

There have also been pro-Palestinian marches attended by tens of thousands of people demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
