Police are investigating the death of a man who died near a rugby club in Cardiff.

The man died near Llandaff Rugby Club on Western Avenue at around 3am on Monday.

South Wales Police say they are continuing to investigate the “sudden and unexplained” death.

The deceased has been identified as a 65-year-old local man.

His next of kin have been informed but formal identification is yet to take place, police added.

His family are being supported by detectives.

In a statement, Llandaff Rugby Club said “our thoughts are with anyone affected”.

The club added the police cordon at the scene “doesn’t concern the club directly but it has affected our use of the car park”.
